Additional information on this course and Transition trainers

Transition Training was founded in October 2007 by Naresh Giangrande and Sophy Banks to develop and deliver training to assist the Transition movement.

Below is an outline of what you can expect if you are accepted to join the Transition Training community of trainers, and what is expected of you.

Joining the Transition Training Community of Trainers

What you can expect
To be trained in depth in concepts and practicalities of the transition model and process as far as it is known!
That Transition Training will make clear the principles and practice that trainers sign up to in joining the community in your country.
To be given the course programme, teaching and background materials for existing Transition courses
To join a group of interesting, passionate, transitioning trainers who will support each other and work to develop existing and new courses.
Demand for these courses is increasing but varies from country to country – so we cannot guarantee the amount of work.
To share opportunities for paid work and other benefits that arise through the Transition network or training forum in ways that are transparent, fair, and balance factors including:
Experience and quality of work;
Particular expertise related to the work opportunity including knowledge of the community, language skills, knowledge of content relevant to this training and so on;
Developing individuals’ skills and abilities;
geographical proximity and keeping travel and carbon costs low;
Relationships and connections with a group or locality
Availability.
Level of (particularly unpaid) contribution to promotion and development of work.
Variations in skill level, demand, geographical location and so on mean that some people will inevitably get more work than others. We hope that the group will be able to feedback and work honestly and with good intention with any difficult feelings that arise as a result of this.
To be paid between £150 - £270 per day for training work plus travel and other expenses. In the current model we are not paid for preparation or travel time (this model for funding / payment may change over time). This also vaies from country to country and we are experimenting with the gift economy.
To have the opportunity to have your work and name known in and associated with the Transition movement.
To contribute to developing the models for delivering the training, including innovative funding possibilities.

What we expect from you:
To make a professional commitment to deliver high quality training following the principles and practice agreed with Transition Training.
To attend the Train the Trainers course.
To balance personal opportunities that arise for work with a commitment to sharing opportunity with the community in a way that is transparent and recognizes the factors listed above.
To be open to feedback and assessment in the delivery of training, and to respond constructively and appropriately to this feedback.
To contribute to the evolution of Transition Training. As trainers we all will need to share our evolving understanding and practice of this work so anyone becoming a trainer must be prepared to do so.
To be flexible and constructive in working out how the Transition Training community can work well for all its members and people receiving training.
